Lane Community College has a new vice president for finance and administration, the college announced Wednesday.
Martin “Marty” Hanifin was announced as the new administrator. The position has been vacant since January when Brian Kelly, the previous vice president, left to become president Clinton Community College in Iowa, according to spokesperson Joan Aschim.
Hanifin’s first day in the role at LCC was May 18, Aschim said Thursday.
Hanifin has worked for large public universities, including Colorado State University-Pueblo and the University of Oregon, where he was an administrator in 2012, according to an article by the Pueblo Chieftain.
He’s also worked small private colleges across the country, according to an LCC news release and served as an accreditation reviewer for the Higher Learning Commission for the last six years.
Hanifin is an attorney and army veteran, the release stated. He also previously worked in state government and Vermont politics, serving two governors as a staff member and later joined the Oklahoma Senate appropriations committee as a staff member.
