Consumer electronics giant Apple (AAPL) on Tuesday unveiled its latest smartwatches and tablets during an online product launch event. Apple stock dipped on the news.
The Cupertino, Calif.-based company debuted its Apple Watch Series 6 smartwatches at the event, which is in progress. The sixth-generation smartwatches include improved health and fitness tracking features. For example, the devices feature blood oxygen level detection and improved electrocardiograms.
Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook said the company will introduce new iPads later in the event.
In afternoon trading on the stock market today, Apple stock rose 1.8%, near 117.39. When the event started at 10 a.m. PT, Apple stock was up 2.3%, near 118.05.

On Sept. 2, Apple stock notched a record high of 137.98 in intraday trading. However, it ended that day down 2.1% amid a sell-off in technology stocks. Apple stock closed the regular session on Monday at 115.36.
Apple is seen holding another launch event in October to introduce its 5G-enabled iPhone 12 smartphones.
